Generally lifters’ up and down on the cam lobe consumes a lot of power, but mechanical flat lifters lose small power when the engine rotates due to its simple and light structure. Meanwhile the radius of ball support for pushrod on the lifter is slightly larger than that of the ball head, forming wedge-shaped oil film to lubricate the ball head and ball support, decreasing friction lose and saving oil.
